Your English-speaking friend comes up to you with a problem and asks for your advice:

“Hey! I wanted to ask your advice about something.

My sister is living abroad. She just called me to say that she is coming to visit me next week for four days! I am excited, but nervous because I don’t have any vacation time at work.

I haven’t seen her in almost a year and I want to spend time with her, but I won’t be able to if I have to work every day. What do you think I should do?”

Idioms – Outdated Technology

Technology is evolving at incredible speeds. Now everything is available at the touch of a button or a touch screen. We have smart phones and smart cars, and even virtual reality and augmented reality. Language is changing quickly to catch up. Now you can “google” some information or take a “selfie” on your iPhone.

Before we completely forget how things used to be, let’s take a moment to reflect on some older, outdated technologies that once shaped the language. Most of this technology is no longer used, but the expressions are still very common!
