Phrasal Verb (separable)

This means to put on nice clothing, perhaps even makeup and jewelry, to be more fancy or formal. This is something one does to go to a cultural or religious event, as well as more formal gatherings such as weddings, award ceremonies and funerals.

Example: All the teenagers got dressed up to go their high school prom.
