Punctuation Changes Everything

The story goes that an English teacher asked his class to add punctuation to this sentence:

A woman without her man is nothing

The results:

  • Almost all the men punctuated it to say, “A woman, without her man, is nothing.”
  • Whereas, the women wrote, “A woman: without her, man is nothing.”

A woman without her man is nothing

Which do you think it is?
